Beautiful Italy – part 2

Hey readers! This time one of the largest cities in Italy which I’ve been to is.. Bologna! It might be difficult to pronounce in English, but it must be famous for spaghetti alla bolognese! The city is also characterised by its lengthy porticoes and a way rather long street called Independence Street where you can find most of the shops. I visited the most important square that is “Piazza Maggiore” and the “Basilica of St. Petronio”, a lovely church with a panoramic terrace. We had lunch at an indoors market: it was very crowded! I had a roll in with ham, cheese and grilled courgettes. In the afternoon I did some shopping for clothes and then we went to some local food markets. In the evening we had dinner at “32 tavern” where I had some  Risotto with sausage, pieces of Grana Padano cheese and Lambrusco wine: it was so good! And as for dessert I ordered a berries cheesecake: this was fantastic as well! Luckily it didn’t rain, so we managed to have a nice walk around the centre of the city. Undoubtedly it’s a very important cultural and artistic centre and what I enjoyed the most were the medieval towers and the antique buildings. And then the food, that is good, very good!! 😉CITY

Beautiful Italy – part 1

It’s nice to realize how pleasant is visiting, discovering and admiring my country. I’m Italian and I have a lot of chances to go sightseeing around Italy. I’m going to write three blogposts about 3 Italian cities that I visited at Easter and today’s destination is..Milan!

I love going there more times a year, I usually go shopping and sightseeing at Christmas, Easter and on Summer holidays. This time I visited it with my friends and we had so much fun together. The journey took us about 45 minutes and we caught a train and the tube to reach’s pretty near our city. We obviously stopped by Duomo Cathedral, Milan’s symbol and we took a lot of pictures. Even though we’ve seen it a bunch of times, we don’t get bored of it! Recently some cute palms have been put in front of the cathedral and it’s fun to think of visiting a seaside town. Most famous shops are along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, so we always walk down it several times. It’s often very crowded and there are buskers and mini shows. There you can visit the Rinascente: a huge store where you can find anything. After several escalators, on the top floor there is a restaurant and a cool view. Also at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele there are some shops, but big brands ones. The galleria is one of the world’s oldest shopping malls and has a lovely iron-and glass-roof. The largest park in the central area of Milan is Sempione park and it’s very lovely especially to picnic. Then it’s worth visiting Porta nuova business district that includes modern high rise buildings, a large park and an ice skating rink in winter!

In the afternoon we went to Arnold Coffee that it’s very similar to Starbucks and we had iced coffee with whip cream and a raspberry cheese cake. They were so good! Mine was with cinnamon and it was fantastic! It’s definitely my favorite cafe.

I hope you liked reading this blog post!

Tasting Greek food & photos

Hi everyone!! I’m finally back for an interesting blog post with cute photos! Today I hung out with some friends of mine that I met at the seaside last summer and we had lunch at “Santorini tavern” where I finally tasted some Greek food!! On the walls there are lovely photos of Santorini that made me feel like going to the seaside! 🏝 The atmosphere was pleasant and it was like being on holiday 🌊  Firstly I was tempted to order a Mussakà that (from the photo) looked like the Italian lasagna with potatoes and aubergines, but in the end we all went for a Gyros Pita.

I found out that these pitas are a kind of bread with the tzatziki sauce (made of yoghurt and cucumbers), some tomatoes, chips and chicken. Honestly I didn’t know how to eat it because it’s full of meat so as soon as you take a bite, this all falls down! Even though the portion wasn’t so big, it was very substantial. We also ordered a dessert called Baklavà that is a sheet of pastry with nuts, almonds and honey and covered of chocolate. It was so good!! The chocolate was amazing and the honey gave the perfect sweet taste.

After lunch we had a walk then we stopped at a park to take some photos with my friend’s Polaroid. We also tried some filters for the lens that applied some colour effects to the photos. In the end with the “photo shooting” we had a lot of fun and the weather was very nice so the photos turned out well! 😁

Christmassy treats!

Hi everyone! Happy Christmas Eve!

Yesterday I had a party at my place with my friends to exchange Christmas presents and for this occasion I painted my nails and I prepared some mascarpone cream. The nail polish I used is the 324 fever from Rimmel, that is bright red, perfect for Christmassy nails! I also added some small shiny decorations on each nail and I fixed them with a drop of transparent nail polish.

For our party I prepared the cream with:

  • 250 g mascarpone
  • 2 eggs (2 yolks, whipped egg whites)
  • 70 g sugar

We ate some pandoro with the cream and this is my favourite Christmas dessert!!

My friend Bea made some nutella biscuits decorated with powdered sugar and they were very good!

This afternoon I made some star shaped gingerbread biscuits!! I tried to decorate them with nutella to give a face to the stars somehow 😂 as regards their taste, I’m so happy with them! This is the recipe I followed:

  • 350 g flour
  • 150 g sugar
  • 150 g butter
  • 2 eggs (yolks)
  • a pinch of salt
  • honey (2 spoons)
  • 5 g ginger
  • 5 g cinnamon

Hope you liked this christmassy blog post!

Have a nice evening!

Surprise Birthday Party!

Hi! My friends and I have recently organised a surprise birthday party for our friend Ada: some of us distracted her while the others decorated her garden with photos, balloons and lights. The party turned out well and we had a lot of fun! As desserts we made some brownies and biscuits and Ada made a cheesecake.

🌺We all wore flowery dresses and Hawaiian style inspired garlands: it was like we were in a tourist village at the seaside!  This is the recipe we followed to prepare brownies :

  • 135g unsalted butter
  • 265g dark chopped chocolate
  •  75g chopped hazelnuts
  •  200g white sugar
  •  135g plain flour
  •  4 eggs
  •  pinch of salt

Hope you like this post! See you soon, Gio❤️

The #FoodTag

Hi everyone! I was tagged for “The food tag” by Angel and I thought it was a cool topic to write about! SO First things first: I love food: I enjoy eating fruit, some types of vegetables, pasta, pizza, fish, cakes and ice-creams. As an Italian girl I often have pasta, pizza and rice: 🇮🇹Italy is famous for its local food! So far I’ve tasted Mexican, Chinese and Japanese food and my favourite is the Mexican one: I really like “Enciladas”, “Tortillas” and “Tacos”, especially their spicy taste.🌮 My favourite Italian main course is definitely the “Lasagna” made of pasta, cheese, the Italian ragù and white sauce, but I also love saffron rice which we call “Risotto alla milanese”. I totally recommend it! Oh and I’m obsessed with Nutella! I’d eat it everyday with bread or on biscuits 😉 In conclusion I’ve always been interested in food and I enjoy tasting new dishes. 😋 What about you?? Leave a comment below! Now my taggies!
